William “Bill” D. Coldren, Jr., 73, of Denver, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017, at Lancashire Hall in Lancaster, where he was a resident for the past 1.5 years.

He was born in Denver, to William and Lottie (Showalter) Coldren and was married to Sandra I. (Bingaman) Coldren for 53 years.

Bill was a 1963 graduate of Ephrata High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. Even though he was a carpenter by trade, retiring from High Construction in 2009, farming was his first love. He owned and operated a 24-acre farm in Denver for about 20 years and enjoyed weekly trips to New Holland Sales Stables, Leesport Farmers Market and The Green Dragon. One of his hobbies was restoring and collecting antique tractors.

For several years, Bill was a volunteer fireman with Denver Fire Company, where he founded the Junior Firemen Group. He belonged to many local organizations, including the Lebanon Antique Tractor Club, Lancaster Firemen’s Association, Denver Fair Committee (Beef Show Chair), Ephrata Area Young Farmers and Slumbering Groundhog Lodge of Quarryville.

His proudest accomplishments include becoming a 33 degree Mason, the highest honorary Masonic degree given (2006), becoming Worshipful Master of F and AM Lodge #665 in Ephrata (1982) and Potentate of Rajah Shrine (2009).

He was a member of the following related clubs: Scottish Rite, Rajah Gun Club, Rajah Anglers, Shayk’s Court, Lehigh Shrine Club, Upper Dauphin Shrine Club, Lebanon Shrine Club, Past President of Rajah Shrine Club, Rajah Shrine Past Masters Club, Lancaster County Oriental Shrine Band, Rajah Golf Club, Rajah Motor Corps, York County Shrine Club, Schuylkill Shrine Club, Lancaster County Shrine Club, York Rite Body of Lancaster, Commandry #13, Royal Arch Chapter #43, Goodwin Council #19, Tall Cedars of Lebanon #27, President of Rajah Past President Club, Zembo Shrine Past President’s Club, Q Club, Apato 63, PA State Shrine Association, Past Masters Mid Atlantic Shrine Association and Lancaster Lodge of Perfection T.P.M.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra I. Coldren, Denver, a son, William D. Coldren, III of Akron and a daughter, Lori S. Coldren and her fiancé Jeff Eichenseer, of Reinholds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Eshelman and Ethel Stoner.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a Service immediately following, at Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
