Obituary for Robert L. Martin

Robert "Bobalou" L. Martin, 69, of Ephrata, a loving father, husband and friend, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at home.

He was born in Brownstown to Joseph and Sara (Carrigan) Martin and was the husband of Janet (Musser) Martin with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, where he served as an usher and a trustee.

Robert was an Installation Supervisor for D and E Communications for 37 years before retirement and was currently the manager of Booksavers of Ephrata. He graduated from Conestoga Valley High School Class of 1966 and attended Goshen College and Penn State University. Robert was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He enjoyed making homemade wine and spending time in Tioga County. He was a part of the "Brownstown Boys," a member of the Lucky 13, Cooper Hill and Newmanstown Clubs, as well as the Buckskins and Cushion Peak Shooting Clubs.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by a son, Anthony Joseph Martin of Ephrata; a daughter, Kelly Sue Martin of Ephrata; a brother, Leonard, husband of Miriam Martin of New Holland and numerous nieces, nephews, brother- and sister-in-law’s.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Nolt.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care during Robert's illness.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, from 6 to 8 PM at Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth Street, Akron. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 9 to 10 AM at the Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata, followed funeral services at 10AM with Pastor William LaSalle officiating. Interment will take place in the Groffdale Mennonite Cemetery.
