Obituary for Patricia Rakiewicz

Patricia Rakiewicz
Patricia Ann Rakiewicz, 78, of Denver, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Moravian Manor, Lititz.

She was born in Pottsville to the late Francis and Elizabeth (Svrcek) Ready and was the wife of Roy Rakiewicz, Sr. with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She attended Mary Queen of Peace grade school and in 1957 graduated from Pottsville Nativity BVM High School. Patricia was employed by Weaver Industries of Denver for 37 years before retiring as a Production Scheduler in 2015.

Her children, grandchildren and extended family were the center of her universe and when not at home, she could usually be found spending time with them. Patricia had a soft spot in her heart for dogs, especially her Shetland Sheepdog Princess/Daisy whom she considered her soul mate. She enjoyed traveling to southern beaches, music, reading, and Pennsylvania Coal Region history. Patricia was proud of her Irish/Slavic lineage and she enjoyed sharing colorful stories, of her upbringing in the Fishbach neighborhood of Pottsville and its many interesting residents, to anyone who would so inquire.

In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by two sons, Roy, Jr., husband of Elaine (Weaver) Rakiewicz of Denver, Edward, husband of Carolyn (Heasley) Rakiewicz of Gibsonia; 4 grandchildren, Laura, Alina, Tara and Joseph Rakiewicz; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann, wife of Thomas Terry of Hazleton and Kathleen, wife of Robert Muldowney of Pottsville; three nieces, Sandra Muldowney, Trisha (Terry) Joy, and Maureen (Terry) Jordan and their children, Kendra, Mackenzie, Abigail, Luke and Cole.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, from 10 to 11:00 AM at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 am, with Father John McLoughlin, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901 or to the American Cancer Society - Lanc. Co. Unit, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Arrangements by Roseboro Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Denver.
