Obituary for Martha K. Hurst

Martha K. Hurst, 90, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Fairmount Homes.

She was born in East Earl to the late Isaac G. and Katie (Kurtz) Sensenig and was the wife of Amos W. Hurst, Sr. with whom she shared 70 years of marriage.

Martha was a homemaker and a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

In addition to her husband, Martha is survived by 4 sons, Leonard (Laura Martin) Hurst of Lititz, Isaac (Carolyn Eberly) Hurst of Akron, Amos, Jr. (Carolyn Seibel) Hurst of Lititz, Kenneth (Dolores Rutt) Hurst of Ephrata; 4 daughters, Velma Nolt (Nelson) of Drumore, Doris Weaver (Curtis) of Ephrata, Jane Weaver of Beavertown, Nancy Hurst of Ephrata, a brother-in-law Jonas Nolt of Newville; 34 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jay Melvin Weaver; 2 grandchildren, Kendra Hurst and Joshua Weaver; 5 brothers, Lloyd, Allen, Rufus, Isaac and John Kurtz and 3 sisters, Vera (Mahlon) Martin, Katie (Jacob) Reiff, Alta Nolt. She was the last of her immediate family.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Martindale. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 8:45 at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, with further services at 9:30 AM, from the Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, 200 Meadow Valley Road, Ephrata, with Bishop Lester B. Martin and Ministers Elam Ray Martin, Gary Zimmerman and Jay Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
