David H. White, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was born in Clay Township to the late G. Lester and Anna (Hurst) White and was the husband of Betty (Seibel) White with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
He attended Lancaster Evangelical Free Church.
David was a lineman and installer for Verizon before retiring and later worked part time for Tents for Rent. He was an army veteran, 196 FABn, serving in North Korea from 1951 to 1952. He was a member of Ephrata Blue Lodge #665 F.and A.M., Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the AASR Valley of Reading. He enjoyed reading, traveling, photography and spending time outdoors volunteering at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by 2 daughters, Karen, wife of Gerald Wells of Fort Worth, TX, Kay White of Sayre, PA; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Barbara Snavely White, wife of George Wicker of Lac La Biche, AB, Canada, Esther Snavely White, widow of Steven Bhagundas of London, England and 2 brothers, Paul Hurst White, widow of Helen Horst White of Edmonton, AB, Canada, James Benton White, husband of Evelyn Weaver White of Beach City, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth White.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 9 to 10 AM, at the Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, 419 Pierson Road, Lititz, PA 17543 followed by funeral services at 10 AM, with Pastor Tony Hunt officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's memory may be made to Children's Dyslexia Center of Reading, 430 S. 7th Street, Reading, PA 19611, or a charity of your choice.
